There is an historic site not far from where I’m currently staying. Several of the original buildings from the late 1800s are still standing. They’re boarded up and blocked off to the public but you can go up and peak inside them. You can feel the history of the place. There are still really old Japanese newspapers stuffed in the walls for insulation in the buildings. Japanese and Chinese fishery workers lived there in the late 1800s early 1900s. And only 2 generations later they own this whole area. In one of the rebuilt structures you are hit with old jazzy music coming from an imitation gramophone just as you walk in the door. They very effectively take you back to the environment as it might have been back in the day.
